Fartown Inn Contest (formerly the Cerbie's Grill contest)

Postby Ben » Sun May 23, 2004 8:56 am

Cerbie is gone from this world... at least mostly... so his grill is going up for 'sale'

The new 'owner' (read namesake) for the grill will be chosen via a contest. I am still trying to decide the best time for the contest so that we can have as many people as possible participate. More announcements will be made in this thread as they happen.

[This contest has been changed to the Fartown Inn contest. See below for details]

I underestimated the nostalgia of Cerbie's Grill! Lots of people like it as "Cerbie's Grill" and would be sad if it changed. So, Cerbie's Grill will not be changing ownership afterall.

However, the Inn at Fartown is also looking for new management and a good name to promote their business. SO, the contest has switched over to that.

If you win, you get:
1) To roleplay that you own the Inn. The Inn, just like everything else in Dark Grimoire, belongs to Grimoire Entertainment Inc. in reality, but in the game storyline, it will be 'yours'.
2) To rename the Inn to something... to be approved by the admins, of course, to make sure it isn't so rediculous that it doesn't fit in the world, OR that it isn't inappropriate. You can name it after yourself, your guild, or just name it something cool.
3) To design a few Valornian-flavored dishes and drinks to be sold only at that Inn, again with Admin approval to make sure things don't get out of hand.
4) A personal portal machine to take you to your Inn whenever you need to check up on it. Can be used by you only.

You get to do these things only once... this is not a lifetime pass to bug the admins about changing your Inn's name once a month.

The contest goes like this: there are various Deeds to the Inn that will be going in the game (The official name of the item will be 'Fartown Inn Deed'.) Whichever premium member collects the most of these by next Sunday, 5/30/04 (at the stroke of midnight, Pacific Time) will be the winner. If there is a tie, there will be some kind of tie-breaker. (For you confused people out there, that means that as soon as it turns from Saturday to Sunday in my timezone, the contest is over.)

To participate in this contest, you must be a Premium Subscriber. Yes, if you collect 20 Deeds as a non-premium, and then sign up for premium right before the contest ends, you can still win.

The deeds will be going in at 2PM my time... so in about 40 minutes. If any questions pop up that need to be answered, I will update this thread with a new post.

The primary tie breaker, between the two finalists, will be a treasure hunt... more details when it happens =)

The secondary tie breaker, if there happens to be MORE than two people who tie in number of deeds found, will be simple mathematics: the two characters who have been in Valorn the longest out of the tied characters will move on to the primary tie breaker.

If one premium member has more deeds than anybody else, that person will just be the winner, of course.

Contest is over. Nobody got more than one Deed each, although many people had one. JKD is the oldest character to have a deed, but is not a Noble... so the tie-breaker treasure hunt will be between Dragon Lancer and Zelaria.

Both of you please contact me with times that will work for you to have the treasure hunt next weekend.

The final battle between Zelaria and Dragon Lancer will be on Monday, June 7 at 6PM Pacific (9PM Eastern).

Starting at 5PM (8PM E), none of Zelaria's or Dragon Lancer's characters should be anywhere in Valorn except the Dundee Inn. Being elsewhere in that hour will result in a forfeit... so if either of you play earlier that day, I suggest "parking" all your people in the Dundee Inn before leaving.

Thats it! Further instructions will be given in the Inn at 6PM (9PM). See you there. :)

Dragon Lancer won the treasure hunt! The two finalists had to search the entirety of Valorn for another Fartown Inn Deed... it took them nearly an hour and a half, but DL finally managed to find his Deed in the grassy hills to the south of Dundee. He will take over the Fartown Inn very soon....

Zelaria worked very hard and, although she did not win, she took home a decent second-place prize of 1000 health potions and 100 platinum for her efforts.

Thank you to everybody who participated! We hope to have more contests soon, so that others might have a chance to win a piece of immortality within the world of The Dark Grimoire.
