Forum avatar rejecting links

I noticed a few days ago that several avatars display the broken image icon instead of the actual image. I tried changing mine, thinking Discord had messed up the hosting of the image. It still displayed something broken. I switched to using Imgur because one avatar I saw working used Imgur. It, too, is displaying a broken image.

steps to reproduce:

Go to control panel for avatar selection;
select "remote avatar" under avatar type;
enter url:
