Issue with the forums

Postby ZarockNight » Fri Mar 13, 2020 12:11 pm

After clicking a link to a new page, or a reply or to a particular topic or to post a reply, it takes me to the login screen and I have to relog in . Even just reloading the page tells me I have to log in again.

Have you tried eating, er, I mean clearing your cookies? Different browsers?

Double-check you're not using a version of private or incognito mode.

Which browser are you using?

I use Chrome, and am experiencing no issues. Likewise when tested on Firefox and (shudders!) Edge.

Sometimes, your dynamic IP will skip around and attempt to reauthenticate on the forum. And if it’s a different IP, then it won’t know it’s still you.
So maybe try telling your IP to not wiggle around so much.

Might be worth checking your IP to see if it's changing like Blythe said.

Maybe reinstall Chrome if you don't want to use a different one?

One way would be to visit this site, make a note of the details, then keep checking back periodically. Unless anyone knows a better way?

That would be the best way.

Also, if you have chrome extensions you could try turning them off and seeing if any of them are messing with you.

If, when you turn them off, the issue still persists, turn them back on ONE BY ONE for the best way to see which (if any) are the issue.

If you have multiple you're better off turning off ALL of them. Seeing if it goes away, then turning them on in small batches. IE, if you have 10, turn on 3-4 at a time. Once it happens again, turn them off individually until you narrow it down.

I don't think there are multiple Chrome extensions worth having!

I made a post on this forum back in July. I'd assumed the problem was that the time of inactivity before the forum logged me out had greatly reduced.
The situation improved but now continues again.
The time taken to read a thread or compose a post is long enough to be signed off the furum.
