I have now tried to refresh two clerics, one in Branishor, and Akassa just now In Milltown Center. Consistently I get an amount and a cost to restore, but when I try to do it, I get the "This person is too far away to appraise".

That usually happens when they have left a monster undefeated, like retreating from a fight and leaving it unfinished. It will cause that.

it happens when an enchanter has "poofed" away from a fight and the creature has not been killed i done a study of it a long while ago.
You probably found that player clerics couldn't heal you either.

I have had this happen, via teleporting to leave a fight. Seems it happens with teleport scrolls, too - Cen was unable to heal himself after teleporting from a critter.

This happens because teleporting out of combat doesn't register as leaving combat normally so Cleric healing thinks you are still fighting a monster

Yeah, if you port away mid-fight, you cannot be healed or zap anyone. Just kill something (it does not have to be the monster you ported away from) and that usually sorts it out.

I don't think this should be the case -- it's not really a bug, because it's part of the game mechanics and everyone just accepts it, but I'll put it on the list to be looked at and see if we can make it a bit smoother.
