Game Balance: Experience / Potions

I was just noticing how the "new" experience system and health potions seem to be really well balanced.

I can kill a creature at one level for a certain number of potions and the next level if I choose to fight that monster the percentage of potions I use after the battle is equatable to the percentage of the experience would be if I were fighting the monster one level above.

I'd just like to note that is a very well balanced system, and it should be noticed how well it works out now.
What kind of game would you make?
