10,000,000 ItemID Contest

Postby Ixon Fier » Tue Nov 08, 2005 9:59 pm

The Twenty Two is proud to present a contest of historical import! It has recently been brought to our attention that that the generation of the 10millionth item is nearing. What better item to have placed and catalogued in the museum?

This contest is quite simple, we are looking for itemID #10000000. Anyone can claim the prize but it has to be that specific item.

Prizes you may say? Prizes you might ask? How does a crystal shard among other rewards sound as a starter? That's right. 2k plat value just for one simple item.

Any questions?

Likely it'll just be a crude hammer or ratskin hat nobody picks up.
What kind of game would you make?

When it gets close, I figure if people want the reward they'll buy cheap items like crazy trying to get the right number. Though I plan to spread this around more as the numbers becomes closer.

Perhaps a foolish question, but how does one see the item number?

When you view the item look at the url and you will see it has a number, in the same way as your character has a number on its invetory page. Try it out by looking at the stuff in your own invetory.

Stupid questions ain't stupid if you don't know the answer

Judging from the change in numbers since yesterday, it'll be out sometime Late Firday / early Saturday morning GMT.

He's assuming the rate of change is the same, so keep your eyes open.

Don't sell it to him. He just wants to horde it. Keep it for yourself. =)

Come now, he's just a kindly curator who wants to guard it for posterity, for the enjoyment of future Trinaldians... how can you say Ix hordes things?

*hides a smile*

Anyway, the prizes have been confirmed and they are:
1) a crystal shard
2) 1000 potions (either health or power)
3) 300P

These fabulous prizes are currently in my possession, I look forward to the successful claimant contacting me.

Oat (50547) won... congratulations on finding the Hunter's scroll for new adventurers, Oat.

Sadly, the item will not be becoming part of the museum collection.

Because Oat refused to hand it over, and as a few people pointed out that we hadn't made the rules specific enough (we did not state it MUST be handed to the museum to claim the prize, only implied it) the prizes were handed over to Oat but the scroll will not be forming part of the museum collection. I'm really disappointed, and kicking myself for not forming the rules more carefully, but it never crossed my mind that this situation would occur. :(

Well, you couldn't very well demand someone give it to you guys anyway. It might've been a piece of valuable armour or something undroppable.

What you could have stated was unless it's something undroppable, it must be handed over to receive the prizes at all. And I'd still say that what you said was clear enough for you to be able to say "Hey, unless you're giving it to the museum, you don't get the prizes."

...Either way, I bought over 50 torches and still lost. ::Sniffles:: It was so close, at the end! I was also very disappointed to not get the 9999999 item for myself.. I thought that one was cooler than the 10000000 item, personally.

well, i don't know why you're admitting that since ben said it was against the rules to buy mass amounts of cheap items to get the 10,000,000 item. so perhaps you're lucky you weren't the one to win heh.

Ummm... when did he say that? Wouldn't have been very fair, since I certainly never saw him say it. Here or in game. (And it should have been done in both.)
