Winter Warming - Glass Ornaments

Postby Zeric of Admin » Thu Jan 17, 2019 7:32 pm

This year's Winter Warming will provide an opportunity for any interested and creative adventurers to blow their own glass ornaments.

The ornaments will then be displayed on a festive and elaborately decorated tree for the duration of this year's event.

It's going down on January 26th, 2pm EST.

Using the pontil a small amount of molten glass has been allowed to flow into a thin column. A suitable length is cut and formed into the shape of a ring. FIne cuts in the surface increase reflection of light, increasing the resemblance to a cleric's ring.
A second length of glass is produced, and the ends tapered to resemble a lockpick. Fine cuts in the surface increase light reflection, suggesting the characteristc glow of a master pick. A small eyelet is produced and attached to the ring, for hanging on the tree. The pick is laid across the ring. After checking connected points are holding secure the lockpick-and-ring decoration is placed in the lehr to allow the glass to anneal.
