What? Improv Games
Where? AVE's Guild Hall - Library*
When? ((2/11 @ 4 PM EST))
*Directions to AVE's Library: North of Milltown and west once you're able. Head north past the monument and all the way north to the Northern Courtyard. Head west and you find yourself at the library.
Everyone is welcome to participate though I know some will prefer to just watch.
((The following list of games draw inspiration from theater games you've likely played as children.)) For some of the games the participants will be given quirks or personas to take on and each skit will have a goal or problem that it revolves around. Those (preferably) will be offered by spectators, but a backup list will be available just in case. Games marked in bold do NOT require quirks or scenes unless the players self-assign them. I don't expect every game to be used, but I like to always be prepared.
Examples of Quirks:
Really needs to go to the Women's/Men's Room
Afraid of their own height
Examples of Scene:
Locked inside a room
Adrift at sea on a wrecked ferry
____
Off The Top of Your Head
This is a group exercise and nobody even needs to stand up for it! The host calls out a suggestion like "Things you don't say on a date" and participants call out their answers. It's an ice breaker!
____
Please, Only Questions!
An improvised scene in which every sentence used by the players must be a question (the question must work with the flow of the scenario). Players that use statements instead of questions must excuse themselves.
____
Walkout
Each player is given a word. Start playing a scene with 2 players. As soon as a player hears their word, they have to leave the scene. As soon as the player hears the word again, they need to walk into the scene again. Walkouts and re-entrances need to be justified.
____
Number of Words
The performers act out a given scene. Each is also assigned a number, which is the exact number of words each must use at a time.
____
Alphabet
This is a scene consisting of 26 lines of dialog. The first line starts with a given letter (say `R`). The reply to that line must start with an `S`, and so on until the whole alphabet has been covered. After `Z` comes `A`. The first person to speak decides what character to start with.
____
Death in a Marc
A few players play a short scene, in which one player must die. It's up to the players to decide how.
____
Dating Game
The host provides endowments for three players. Examples: No. 1 is a well-known merchant with an ego-trip, No. 2 is a warrior whose torch has just gone out in a dark cave, and No. 3 is afraid of life monuments. 4th player gets to ask three questions of each contestant, after which they can guess what each person is.
