Player-run events

Postby Jane of Admin » Sun Mar 04, 2012 11:41 am

If you are hosting an event or running a contest and would like some minor administrative aid, you may ask.

Please realize that asking doesn't mean it will be granted. If we think it's a good idea, we will try to help out. Sometimes we may simply be too busy. If people begin to 'expect' participation or get offended if we do not grant their request, we will withdraw the offer to help you.

Some examples:
in the past the crier has been asked to announce an event before it occurs;
on rare occasions admin has chosen to aid with a prize or reward. Please note that this is very rare and it is unlikely that we would do it just because you asked for it. We have also moved the storyline on using player events, so it's worth letting us know if you are running something in-game.

What we will not do:
run an event for you;
provide major support. If you wish to run an event or host a contest we may choose to help enrich it, but the planning and execution of the event is up to you;
have what we do be the major portion of your event/contest;
prescript with an NPC. Please do not ask for Tyral to make a certain announcement or Shaerih to show up and perform actions.

If you want to make such a request email the DG general admin mail - not an individual administrator - at [email protected]. Be sure to include what your event is; when you are holding it; what, specifically you are requesting; and how admin support could help. We can't assure you that it will be granted, but if you follow these steps it will be looked at and considered.

I wanted to remind people of the best way to see that your event is properly highlighted.

Information we will need includes the place and time of the event, the type of event, and the nature of your request.
