Dayspring and the Gods

OOC: This is posted on behalf of Dayspring: char number 139950.

The gods have spoken.

When I saw the newly discovered altar, of course I wondered, as we all did, whether it was an altar to the gods of Valorn or to some strange idol. Many seemed to think the latter; others, including me, placed offerings on the altar. But I would not give offerings to strange gods and I invoked the power of the gods of Valorn to claim the altar in their name.

Either the offering or the altar was not accepted by the gods, for I was struck down by a jet of water.

I think it was the altar (or others who gave offerings would have been struck down as well), and that it is not pleasing to the gods that it should be used in their name. But of course, the ways of the gods are an unknowable mystery. What this means to our knowledge of the sea-dwellers I will leave to the interpretations of the scholars.
