Lovely, Korba. I think it's a new favorite, though I'm pretty partial to Topaz's as well.

Thank you everyone and thank you especially to the Queen (or more likely the Royal caretakers) who have hung the portrait in the great hall, I'm very honored!

Also a couple of people have asked about creating a portrait so I saved the steps I went through for Cordelia for those interested:

1. Create a line drawing, actually quite a few steps in itself but you don't want to see my messy scribbles. I usually use existing drawings or character poses as references to get proportions correct.
Image

2. Add some basic colors to get the palette right.
Image

3. Start to add texture details, in this case each piece of armor is a separate layer.
Image

4. More details, lines help keep track of where folds in fabric will go.
Image

5. Little details make a big difference, face, hair jewelry should try and match the bio as much as possible with some artistic liberties added.
Image

6. Start to add shadows and texture details (in this case to the boots).
Image

7. Add shadows and details to the rest of the armor.
Image

8. Add texture and shadows to the cloak as well as glow effects to swords and jewelry.
Image

9. Find a suitable font and background, add effects and make any last minute tweaks.

Thanks for sharing that, Korba. I have always wondered how you did portraits in this style. Great work!

It's been a while (nearly 5 years *gulp*) but the cover image for Paths of Light has always been one of my favorite maps. I always meant to come back and do a version for the whole of Trinald. As usual the original files have gone missing so I had to start over. First in the new series is Kilican:

The sizing and style is meant to very closely match the maps on the story page. I will post up some full resolution images when I've done the set of four.

Stunning. And how amazing to see the steps involved. *smiles* you narrated it so calmly, but for those of us not favored with the gift of art.....just wow!

Thank you both. The next map is Valorn, I've had to change the fonts around so they are clearer at the small final size.

To be able to visually see it in color and everything is just amazing. Well done. =D

A thought occurred to me...I wonder where Balty's castle actually rests in that whole mass northeast.

Wallpaper suitable sizes coming soon :)

I assume his fortress is in the same position as the golden age city of Ryn, that would make it in the far North East corner (see the map of Valorn in the golden age for a more precise location).

Ethucan in the same style:
