Announcement from the Iron Knights

Postby purazon » Mon Jan 07, 2008 10:41 pm

Regarding the mysterious scroll that was found by the young initiate Calwail in the plains, near the Gremlin tree.

We've heard that the letter been safely delivered to Rynn, in the City of Ryndall. As the letter was adressed to him, he should be the one to break the seal and read the scroll.
Our thanks go out to Kit Written and Wop May who have shown their valour in the escort of this young Calwail through the dangers of the desert.

As for the scroll, and its contents, ... all that we can say at the moment, is that the matter is being investigated, ... and as far as we know, ... there are no signs of danger or ill at the moment. So their is is no need for the populace to be alarmed.

We did be gettin a message again from that young Calwail lass.
Got a seal wrapped inna parchment that be some peculiar. Seems familiar ta me. I do be showin the seal ta the other knights.

The parchment did be havin this riddle inna it.

Once tall now broken
Once gilded now dark
Bright shine gone
Gremlins left their mark

Find what is precious
And place it with care
Quest enough and search
To restore what stands there

Loving hands linger
Fitting pieces complete
At the base on the plains
Our memories replete

The glint of water
Hidden in stone;
Strange soulfire
Lost and alone

A rainbow in stone
Finer then tin;
Wipe away the mud
Find the beauty within

Strange and odd indeed
But weird glimmers well
Hunt and swap, clear the webs
And the last stones fell

Loving hands linger
Fit pieces complete
At the base on the plains
Our memories are now replete

Some folk be thinkin has somethin ta do with Deek's statue inna the plains. Some thinkin has ta do with shiny bits. Donna rightly know. Best fer everyone ta puzzle out anna think fer themselves. If'n more be known, shall be spreadin the word.

Twas a long time it seems, Azure and I spent gathering all we could and pouring over it. Word came to us whiched helped. Adventurers scoured the land and sent news of possible sites. Helped greatly to narrow down the search, and with an able group in tow we inspected the Statue of King Deek. Sure enough, that twas the one. Empty slots lined it's base, clearly contrasting the drawing from when the statue was new. Gems and precious stones, ripped from that base, carried off by the thieves of the plains.

I hope the riddle can tell us which types and that the other knights can figure out how we can replace them where they belong. As I returned to Strifegorge those who'd gathered were already hard at work identifying which ones were needed.

Folks have been asking me about this, and whether or not they should give poor Cyno more gem weight to carry about. I'd suggest trying to figure out what is being mentioned so we don't get the wrong pieces and all.

The Iron Knights are delighted to inform you that the riddle ond the mysterious scroll has been solved. As expected it tells us wich types of gems and precious stones we need to restore the base of the statue to it's former glory.

The mystery that Rynn could not solve was unveiled thanks to the help of the people of Valorn. It was Meara who came forward with a full list of the items needed. She noticed there are six stones and gems, one stone or gem for every two lines of the fourth, fifth and sixth stanza of the riddle. In the following order: Water Gem, Soul Stone, Opalescent Gem, Fine Mire Gem, Odd Stone, Fine Jewel.

Soon, the Knights will visit the statue again, to count the slots on the base of the statue, and see how many of each 'stone' will be needed.

I have notified Azure already, as I peered upon the line:

The glint of water
Hidden in stone;
Strange soulfire
Lost and alone

I have several Soul Stones in my pack at this time and will keep hold of them, as I am sure they will be needed.

I love that part of the riddle, I found it quite lovely for some reason. Kudos to whoever wrote it up.

And well done everyone who helped solve the riddle.

I'm glad someone solved it! I've got some a watergem, a soul stone, an odd stone and a fine jewel in my pack should they be needed.

Well done to whomever solved the puzzle!

Armed with the knowledge of wich stones to fit in the base, today we went to the statue of High King Deek. It seemed like a large amount, but in the end we came to this conclusion:

To be fitted in the base of the statue, is needed:
a score of water gems,
a dozen of soul gems,
a score of opalascent gems,
a score of mire gems,
a dozen of odd stones
a dozen of fine jewels.

Several adventurers present, have promised to do what is in their power to gather the necessary precious items.

Upon gathering them, one can deliver the stones to an Iron Knight, if you can find one... However, remember that there is only so much a knight can carry

I have a score of opalescent gems (actually I ended up with 25), and can carry them myself until they are needed. (All praise to the gods for the lightness of Ethucan armor.)

I have sixteen of the soul stones. Thought that I'd be safe and grab some extra's just in case. :)

I've managed to collect a dozen fine jewels plus a few extra in case any are flawed. Mikel was kind enough to store some of them along with the ones he collected. When the Knights are ready to receive them I'll be able to bring them.
