Sunrifter Blade

When I wrote this, I did not know that enchanters have a similar spell, so no enchanter should feel slighted that it was not mentioned.


SUNRIFTER BLADE

Of many a blade are ballads spoken,
of weapons wielded by warrior arm,
of hammer in hand of holy cleric,
of strong enchanter with staff of might,
or sudden strike of shadowy rogue.

Named are the weapons known in Valorn:
Blade of the Beast, borne by Islander,
Sword of the Sage and Shining Death,
Fierce Fiend Scourge, Flaming Destiny,
hammer of Godsfist, grim Demonsbane,
deadly Grimgor, dazzling Lightbringer.

Deserving of honor are all these blades,
but crowning them all is the cleric's blessing
of Sunrifter's light, summoned by prayer,
imbuing a blade with blessed power.
Newly the gods gave us this blessing,
for new adventurers, Valorn's bright future,
the young heroes with hearts of valor.

Sharp and strong is the Sunrifter Blade,
fair to behold, forged in beauty
from common metal, made to defend
the bearer in battle, the brave striver.
So heroes are fledged, forged on war-anvil
to grow in greatness from green initiate
to Balthazar's bane, the blessing of Valorn.
