Song for a fallen friend (The Amazon's Lament)

Postby Aryana Moonsong » Tue Sep 12, 2006 1:59 am

Recently we lost a great friend and sister, not only from the Amazons, but from DG. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit shall always live on in the hearts of those that she touched during her short time here. With the help of some of the Amazons, I wrote this song to both celebrate her life and mourn her passing. Her name was Merra Grumpypants and for those who never had the chance to know her...it was a great loss for us all.

*sits down and smiles softly, as she removes My Lady from her case and settles her on her lap. Bows her head as she begins to play a soft, melodic tune, half closing her eyes as she begins to sing in a strong and crystal clear voice*

The Amazon's Lament

Darkness and shadow weigh heavy this day-
for some of our light has been taken away.
Your lilting laugh and mirth filled eyes.
Your loving heart which was ever so wise.

[Chorus]
No matter where you are my friend.
No matter what the future holds.
You will always be with us until the end-
just as the pants have surely foretold.

An Amazon queen to one and all
always rising to answer the call.
Your pants captured many a heart-
and soul right from the very start.

The sparkle in your eyes near a cake,
your mind working on just how to make-
off with it before anyone would see-
you poof away with a cackle of glee.

[Chorus]
No matter where you are my friend.
No matter what the future holds.
you will always be with us until the end-
just as the pants have surely foretold.

The world now seems empty without you.
Times spent together were far to few.
In our hearts you shall always remain-
and as a Queen you will forever reign.

*slows the music down quite a bit here, as he melody becomes soft and
haunting almost and she begins to speak in a low, strong voice*

Merra, may you forever live on in our hearts and souls.
And let this song stand proud in your honor so that you
may always be remembered and never forgotton.

*bows her head as she lets her words slowly fade away with the last of
the notes from My Lady*
