Songs, acrostic and otherwise.

Postby Telvonus » Tue Jan 08, 2013 5:58 pm

This is where Telvonus will publish his poems, as comments. Comments by others welcome; or tell me in game, where all of these exist. I generally do not publish poems about people without their consent.

These are not in chronological order.

Over windy plains,
Kissing Sun-Rifter's glory
Immense heights of blue.
Nearer at hand, red hair shines;
Okino's eyes glow warmly.

Towering in wrath,
Overhead stormclouds battle;
Placid day returns.
After flyting, Poet sits -
Zephyrs permeate garden.

Azure
Zooms cheerfully,
Useful to everyone-
Recondite within her fastness;
Elsewhere.

It was a golden afternoon,
The bells of Milltown ringing;
Okino kissed me where I sat,
So then my heart leapt singing.

There's utter comfort in that bliss,
Unmarked the marcs of gold.
That afternoon is passed away,
But what I had, I hold.

Don't say I'm blessed for mighty blow,
For claw and fang that missed me;
Don't say I'm blessed for trophy rare;
Say that Okino kissed me.

Herbs scent the garden;
Small birds chirp in hidden nest;
Sky brightens above.
The first ray of Sunrifter
Walks beside me, all in red.

Riddle

Godslight turns aside;
Green-eyed monsters arise;
Panic drowns Honor.

Bees are the miniature Gods: in such peace they dwell, giving all freely,
Building their Trinalds in stumps, storing up sweetness and light.

Opens all our ancient mysteries;
Pours forth from deep-set springs in floods
Her help; unknots our tangled histories;
Exuberantly wields her mug of suds;
Laughing, she shakes her locks of saffron buds;
Inundates lands with bounty light as leaves -
As lovely Nisli from those hands receives.

Like night she comes, a cloud of smoke;
Its scent of orchards in the spring
Lingers about our cities still;
Lillya enchants all under her yoke.
Yet on her arch'ed eyebrow-string
Are arrows that do not wound but kill.

Mossy iron steps;
Spiders flourish undisturbed.
Gray webs under gray.
Day returns - cobwebs sparkle.
Rainbows resplend blue and red.

At the watersmeet,
Two rivers flow together,
Without boundary.

Can two lives flow together,
Enclosing summer islands?

When my sister first went out with boys, years ago, I would parody their pleas. The following is typical:

When she walks, on pincushions she goes;
She has the most enormous... nose;
Her hair is like a hank of wool;
My feelings make my pancreas full...

O Telmacha, Telmacha Os

I would prefer to bury these juvenalia, but Telmacha insists...

And this one is acrostic...

Katryna, valiant in the battle line
And stalwartly opposing hosts of foes,
Turning and shining, as a fountain flows;
Revolve and strike as spinning axes shine;
Yes, loose your wrath like lightning's bolt condign,
Now undead hordes completely to dispose,
A still and noble point in storms of blows,
Potent as holy clerics' light divine.

Across the field now wafts the scent of Rose;
Remove your warlike armor, swordpoints fine,
To smile at me with eyes all smaragdine;
High-helmèd crests your tangling locks disclose,
Announcing, love, your dearest secret, this:
No killing blow's more telling than your kiss.

These are very cunningly done! I quite enjoyed them!
Strength t'yer sword arm, the same t'our bond. Life t'ye, an' keep ye strong.

Acrostic Hymn

Zeric:
Electrical,
Ridder of much power,
In swirling center of tempest waits
Calmness.
