The Tale of Lotus & The Trees

This is a tale I recently told in Dundee inn, much similar to Azure's. In fact, her tale was the one that reminded me of it:

This is a story of why the trees whisper among themselves when you walk through them.

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Lotus - she hated the trees of the forest near where she lived. She dared not to go near the ever-so-silent trees of deepest darkness...

One day, a demon in disguise went to Lotus in the form of a cleric. He told her, "Go through the forest to the other side, and you will find all that you have ever wanted."

Lotus, foolish as ever, walked through the forest. The trees tried to tell her, rustling their leaves doing everything they could. They tried to whisper to her, to tell her to be careful, and to tell her that the demon was lying to her.

Lotus heard the trees whisper, but she heard not what they said. Instead, since the silence was broken, she walked on, courage building inside of her.

When she reached the other side of the forest, there was a brilliant flash of light. Just outside the forest was a single flower - the lotus flower. The demon saw the flower and let out a strangled cry. For it was not the demon who had turned Lotus into a flower.

It was the trees - frustrated that they could not get the message to Lotus, they had replaced her horrid fate with one more pleasant, wavering in the breeze.

And now, the trees whisper to you, in gentle blessings and cautions. Heed the trees, and trust them, and avoid any fate that can be avoided.
