Song for Sylent

In all the tales of noble deeds
By those who serve fine Trinald well,
Of the names initiates whisper in awe,
Of those who evil crush and quell,
One name is whispered in reverent hush
In tones of admiring aspiration –
There goes fair Sylent One, the Oathkeeper.
Hearing title alone inspires elation.

Sylent One the merciful,
Pure-hearted through and through,
Cleric mighty, Lady brave,
Oathkeeper the true.

With fervent stride she walks the land
Soothing any troubled soul she greets,
Her Ultimate Weapon of War in hand
She despatches all the evil she meets.
Goldspun clothing glints in the sun,
Aura of purity almost visible in light.
She carries with pride two aegis crystals,
One demonblood gold, one sunrise bright.

Sylent One the merciful,
Pure-hearted through and through,
Cleric mighty, Lady brave,
Oathkeeper the true.

Though weary from the storms of life
Steadfast she has forced herself to train,
And thus repaid with results so impeccable
We hear World Crier cry glorious her name.
Her sixtieth level she has quietly met,
As firmly as she keeps her oath inviolate –
Bring peace to those whom she holds dear,
Respect both herself and the pantheon great.

Sylent One the merciful,
Pure-hearted through and through,
Cleric mighty, Lady brave,
Oathkeeper the true,
Beloved by many, unknown by few,
Sylent One Oathkeeper, we honour you.

Ixon

Round the corner Ixon Fier the Sly is creeping
In dark alleyways he’s a-sneaking
Close your eyes child, and count to ten
When you open them he’ll be gone again.

His black hair merges unseen agin’ the night
But blue eyes sparkle sapphire bright
Quiet footfall keeps him from your eyes
And a sneaksuit was his prior disguise.

Though sneaksuit no longer adorns his figure
He now sports goldspun, fashion de rigueur,
Though bright he still maintains his stealth
The better to try and increase his wealth.

This rogue has a passion, collecting rares
Many items fall into his snares
But each is treasured, kept museum-safe
Guarded fierce for Trinald’s future race.

Fier rapier in hand he fights hard with pride
Yet from training often he will hide
Slow to progress through the upper levels
‘Tis the weapon of his wits in which he revels.

Twenty Two respects him as their loyal leader
Accomplished poet, avid reader
If anyone needs help, he’s there when they call
Be it treasure box or trapdoor, any at all.

Once jack-of-all-trades and rogue-of-all-hearts
Husband and father now primary parts
Pride and real hope can be seen in Ixon Fier
Honour in rogues, and evil defeat near.

An Ode to Mr. Sneed
For Agape

Merrily I take quill to parchment and scribe
An ode to the perfection that is the perfumed
Mr Sneed.
He inspires the lightest of hearts, most gladsome
Of toes and all who do nought but fight should
Take heed…
Much joy can be found in simple pleasures such
As the fine facets of a diamond ring, adorning his
Finger,
And to hear his melodic voice lilting over a
Phrase or two, you would think him a trained
Singer.
He is renowned for his fine acting skills and
This feminine delight upon the stage, tears
The eye…
For those who gaze upon his elegant countenance
Feel their pulse quicken and catch their breath in
A sigh.
Once seen he is never forgotten, and brightens
The lives he wafts through, a rose with
No thorns,
Casting compliments like petals to those of us
Fortuitous enough to witness the body this soul
Adorns.

These are fabulous. Should I post some in your thread, or start a new one?

And who's Mr. Sneed?

A Love Song for Jimmy Kitten

We praise the life of a kitten most fair.
Starry-eyed, many smitten swains do dare
To tempt her into love, and sometimes more,
Some have even then knelt to muddy floor
And tried to cajole her into marriage –
But she does their charms disparage,
And waits for one who merits time,
Handsome, clever, and well in his prime.

Does such a man exist, we cry,
As each suitor departs, wistful sigh
Escaping from their trembling lips,
In tiny puddles tears collect in drips.
She is no rogue for easy romance,
She will not her subtle beauty enhance
With fripperies, nor rouge or powder,
And yet the lovelorn all surround her.

Even the Royal Minstrel Steelthunder would
Admire her pomes, theyre reely gud.
Her wit is sharper than her Kitten Duelmaster,
In intellect, few have e’er surpassed her.
As leader of the Way of the Just
Her management skill is oft discussed.
Never found wanting, whatever she tries,
All with a flash of dewy waif’s eyes.

Despite this perfection, this warning heed -
Stand not too close, for upon her is freed
A colony of cooties, roaming her hair,
She always has plenty, and will gladly share.
So why is the right man so hard to find?
They love her for body, but also for mind…
The answer, it seems, lies in stinking stuffed rat,
Love her, love Phil. And who can stand that?

I hope this works - never tried a sonnet before, but have tried to keep the correct rhyme scheme, and stick to iambic pentameter...

Sonnet for Steelthunder
Good Steel, admired through all Trinaldian land
Is blessèd oft by many ladies’ hearts
And holds them soft within the palm of hand
More gifted than most others in these parts.
His music brings a tear to every eye
Or thrills the soul to victory or joy
With zither poised his notes soar to the sky
His talent grown since he was but a boy.
In thoughtful care his Hidden guild he leads
With Heralds who him trust to show the way
Untiring he will help all those in need
Days painted bright where once was only grey.
This warrior is renowned for his fine soul
Steelthunder; man, musician, perfect whole.

Oh the time pressures! A 10 minute poem, inspired by guild chat. Apologies in advance

Raffish Raffe Rychmin

Who is this vision who stalks through the town,
Slashing at evil as he walks up and down?
Blonde locks are flowing and white teeth a-flashing
He’s pure-hearted and true, and ever so dashing!

His guild all adore him for his kindly demeanour
Since he joined Twenty Two no pasture is greener!
He may be a warrior but he’s oh so polite,
And despite what they say, intellectually bright.

With Beormiht in hand, he fights with the ale
He fears with a weapon, his parry grows stale.
Who can it be, who makes the ladies forlorn?
Raffe Rychmin is who, heart throb of Valorn!

What can I say? I am honored and humbled. I have been immortalized with such a great company!

Thank you.

*smiles* I cannot say how extraordinary your talent is to produce such within a few short minutes.

And I am not just saying that because it is about me

:P

Haleth's Face

Dear Haleth needs a new face
She is trying to replace
the one that you see
Its too vague to be
A reflection of her grace

The idea started to bake
With a gender bent mistake
The words of a cur
That named her a sir
Were too much for her to take

A suggestion must be made
Full of care and to her aid
It will be a feat
To find one so sweet
Whose beauty will never fade.

Zakath and the Greater Tomb Wench

It is said he has sworn off love
But, alas, it comes from above.
Zak swore that he was done
as for reasons this is one:

He fights and toils all day
Yet, she still has Her way
Long days and night dueling,
The work, we know, is grueling.

Zakath, what is that stench?
Could it be your Greater Tomb Wench?
Training as hard as you can,
You will ever be her man!

We watch you stalk Her Tomb
so close is your very own doom.
Drawn as a moth to a flame,
Dare we give it a name?

Does she bounce on your knee,
In the dark when no one sees?
Come now, you can tell us
I promise to make no fuss.

For your advancement I pray
and soon will be the day
When you can finally be through
with that hold she has on you.

Please, Zak, shower quit often!
We know you have not option
But we cannot stand the stench
Of your Greater Tomb Wench!

Praise to the Lionheart

Of his ilk there are not many to be seen
For often initiates choose alternative professions.
Yet should one of them consider the warrior path,
They could learn much from this confession,
Told to me by one who indeed would know;
[i]“There are but few who would be as truly apt
As the gallant Richard Deville, brave and true,
To sponsor young warriors into their craft.â€

I know Ben isn't technically a Valornian but here is a poem in his honour anyway.

I chose to make this in 'pleiades' form. This is a relatively new form, and I presume it is named after the Pleiades constellation, which is a cluster of seven stars (also called the Seven Sisters.) It consists of a one word title, then seven lines all of seven syllables, which has to start with the same letter as the title.

I felt this was apt for two reasons - the simplicity of it, and also the religious 'creation' symbolism of the number 7.

Ben

Brave god who makes the world turn,
Brings respect to loyal hearts.
Blighting fast with one stern hand
Blessing then with gentle touch,
Being hope to a world torn
By Balthazar’s black evil,
Balancing the light and dark.

On Cory's Return

Praisèd be the glorious god of all existence, Cory
Whose name is uttered oft with reverent awe
He who hath made possible our creation story
And who leadeth us through times of peace and war,
Is beloved by all who witness his fervour and verve.
His eyes shine with golden memories and silver hope,
His touch restores the faith of those who stray,
Or gives them the encouragement to reform and cope
With the stress life produces for us, each new day –
Bend at the knee and bow to him, your god to serve.
