Abayde

ABAYDE

Across the land of Valorn once you walked,
a threat, a terror, turning day to night,
and filled the land with fear where'er you stalked,
and summoned forth as minions of your might
the living dead, the enemies of light.
The Monuments of Life you chose to raid,
with dark intent and deadly hate, Abayde.

Cordelia spoke, our Queen both brave and fair:
"No more this vile incursion we endure.
Seek out the source of evil in its lair!
Defend the Monuments and keep them pure,
that heroes may return both safe and sure!
In Branishor and Dundee, unafraid,
and Caernivale, go forth against Abayde!"

Now Ryndall's wise enchanters show their skill:
A portal to the necromancer's maze
they opened, and we entered at our will.
Within that place what horrors met our gaze!
What ghastly sights and odors filled the ways
that he had built and hideously made,
all full of death and danger, dark Abayde!

But as we all explored those dreadful halls,
within that place we found a mystery --
a diary's crumpled pages on the walls,
a story of a father's tragedy,
a daughter dying, past all help, though he
sought cures and strove and struggled, begged and prayed,
distraught, demented -- could this be Abayde?

More notes were found, that overflowed with grief --
a bondmates's death her daughter followed soon.
The tortured soul in pain without relief
still cried aloud, in Branishor at noon
and Aldwythe's Landing by a waning moon,
that death's domain he somehow might invade:
unspeakable the anguish of Abayde.

His maddened mind all full of pain and rage,
weighed down with stones, he jumped into the sea,
his final hope his anguish to assuage --
but found no ending to his agony,
for wretched soul no comfort could there be;
still grief and hatred animate his shade,
the evil necromancer called Abayde.

Now Valorn's brave adventurers have gone
to seek the evil's end, as well we must.
With swords and magic, in the desert sun,
we slew him, and he crumbled into dust.
But somewhere now, in Cory's Light, I trust,
where godly mercy dwells and does not fade,
a child and bondmate now embrace Abayde.

Well and skilfully done, Topaz!

It's quite lovely.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D
