Falx the dreaming king nods in a sagely manner.
"I hear you all good denizens, and my mind has much to ponder. Let there be a vote then, and I shall make my decision know when enough votes have been cast.
You may do so publicly or straight to my private knowledge."
The king rests a bucket by his side. On the side a hastily written and still wet word has been painted in red: 'Knowledge'.

Topaz sits to one side with pen and parchment, looking pensive. Finally she writes a name on the parchment, blows on it to dry the ink, folds it, and drops it into the bucket.

King Falx the Dreamer carefully studies the parchments deposited into his private Knowledge.
Solemnly he turns the bucket upside down and climbs into it, clamoring loudly:
"Let it be known that as the last marcs of the Riftershine leave us and we enter into the dreaded Demons Eyes' domain, it is my sad duty as ruler to inform you all that henceforth the denizen known as Bifrost Janger shall be banished from the Kingdom of Fol. This choice was made based on a dream I had, which must mean it is the fated course. It is my iron clad certainty that this action takes us all a step forward into a safer future. May the next ruler of Fol lead us all wisely".
He steps down from the bucket and takes it, and all parchments, to the back of his abode, seemingly in a hurry.

The denizen named Bif does not go quietly as the guards seize him and drag him from the lands. Scraping his heels in the dirt and kicking wildly, he screams, "YOU'VE NOT SEEN THE LAST OF ME! YOU SWINES! YOU RUFFIANS!"

Though the skinny lad fights fiercely, he is soon deftly thrown from the lands. And, despite his words, it almost certainly is the last the good citizens of Fol have seen of Bif.
Fear is a strange soil. It grows obedience like corn, which grow in straight lines to make weeding easier. But sometimes it grows the potatoes of defiance, which flourish underground. - Terry Pratchett

The Demon Eyes now rose above the lands. The denizens retire one by one to the safety of their homes as only the demons dared dance in the light of the evil moons.

*watches as Bifrost is dragged away*

Let's hope he was one of the demons, and we are all slightly safer. Now it's time to ... Wait!! ... What's this?? ...

*Looks down in horror as his fingers, followed by his hands and arms, disintegrate into small particles of dust. The effect spreads across the whole of his body*

*He tries to speak but there is no time. The body, the head, all that was Pallas, is borne away on a gust of wind, followed by the mocking sound of demonic laughter*

How many are now reconsidering their suspicions of fair Pallas?
Was the Dreamer King correct in his banishment? Only the turns will tell...

Vicegerent Raffe arises with the new Riftershine and updates the population list of the denizens of Fol. He draws a line through the name of Bifrost and marks a small RIP next to Pallas’ name.

“Attention Denizens of Fol! The ruler this turn is Queen Topaz ‘Shieldheart’. May her reign result in ultimate Folishness for us all!”

Falx hears the naming of the new ruler with a blank expression. Is that fear in his eyes?
He silently retreats to his home.

Topaz looks surprised, but not terribly so, at the announcement of Bif's banishment. The surprise on her face turns to horror as she sees Pallas' body disintegrate.

She is still staring with wide eyes at where Pallas once stood when she hears another announcement -- she is now Queen of the land and bears the title of Shieldheart.

Narrator wrote:As Riftershine graces the Kingdom of Fol with a new Ruler, whispers abound the Inns and common places of who is behind the recent cursing.
Will the truest of hearts be able to sway the hammer of justice in favor of the denizens or will the demons plotting take a more sinister turn as the marcs stretch on?
Only the Queen Topaz Shieldheart has the power now to lessen the ranks of demons among them. What pleas will be made of their innocence; or will they turn instead to accusation of suspicious circumstances?
Like sands through the hour glass, the marcs of Riftershine count away on some unsuspecting denizen of Fol... for one among them may not survive to enjoy another.

Queen Topaz, called Shieldheart, walks the land as would any other denizen, wearing her armor of gleaming wyvern scales. She sits in the inns and taverns, listening to the rumors and speculations and hoping to hear something useful.
