I have investigated this bug and can tell you that when this is happening, you are not actually doing anything at all to the monsters but your charges are still going down - Basically, not only does the text not fire, the poison effect doesn't either. I think perhaps multiple 'bugs' are at play here.

1. Items listed for sale remain so if the item is made undroppable at a later date
2. Items for sale remain so while in bank (But not on trade screen)

This appears to be a bug (And it also appears to affect Enchanter rejuvenating beams).

We have consolidated certain item slots in the game and as a result, some items in game have been unequipped on all characters. Players may find that those items have new slots assigned to them and can no longer be worn at the same time as others. Please check your items before going into battle.
