I think it should be removed. I feel it gives away way too many secrets and makes the game less interesting for newbies. I think the Almanac takes away from RPing and diminishing the role of mentoring new players.

Ask about in game, there are a few critters that drop nothing but once in a blue moon will drop a glowing crystal. They have for some time, but the occurrence is exceptionally rare.
