Praise, Thanks, and Thoughts To Some Players

Postby carlo aggaruzzi » Tue Jul 11, 2006 4:25 am

I want to publicly thank some people (by their character names) for good times, whether or not they still grace DG with their presences.

Venus Darkmoon was first and last to have conversations with Mylor. Making her the last player character he spoke with was not coincidental. You have my respect and my admiration as a role-player and as a friend. I think you should go to a pub, stand up on a table, and shout, “I’m great!â€

Thankyou, and know too that you are definately considered one of the best roleplayers here. Thankyou for encouraging me also, as I never would've gone in such a roleplay heavy direction had you not. :)

I miss Urkki!

I loves these kinds of raves because most of the time taking a few minutes to tell everyone thanks for being friends, is something people forget or neglect to do... myself included.

pssssssst don't raves belong down with the other raves? *smile*

Mylor (aka Carlo),

You are missed in Valorn. Please visit the player's journals and the DG forums often so we can see how you are doing.

I've always looked up to your roleplay abilities.

Plus the tango lessons were always fun.

That made me laugh. Yes, the tango lessons Mylor gave to Fondour prior to the 2nd OON were quite a lot of fun. Courtesy of a friend, I actually referred to two sites for lessons on tango, so that I could inject some authenticity into the play.

I believe a thank you is different from a rave, so I put this here. And it's not a goodbye. If it was, I actually would have titled it "I'm Going to Disney World" or maybe something more clever like "Goodbye".

The public announcement (OOC) of Mylor's death seemed like a good time to express gratitude and spread credit for the development of one of the three or four best characters I have ever played. Some of the players are gone and, I suspect, forgotten. A few others hold somewhat mythic status, due to their absence near-complete.

Oh, and Arlanna for having talked to Mylor after her first visit to Milltown, but then forgetting about the conversation after a month or two.

Mylor you are the first person with a title that took a few mins to help me out with tips/hints and you directed me to the OON contest and then gave me further advice for the contest. You had a definate impact on the direction of thought I took back then. I must also say that more than once on GC, people were excitedly reporting a Mylor sighting then running to find you for the RP.

I had a folder of screen shots titled "Mylor BAD" where I had about 7 or 8 of your really good and high quality jibes/inuendo's You are skilled Mylor! Please don't go, but if you have to go......can I have all your stuff?

I regrettably had very little interaction with Mylor Clearspring. My one and only time Mylor ever spoke to Sreip was after she did a telling of a permanent smiting she'd witnessed. I remember being shocked IC and OOC that *the* Talespinner gave a compliment about the tale.

Mylor's reputation definently proceeded him, and it was always fun to dash to the inn to see the tail end of some brilliant story or RP. It saddens me that I never got there in time for a full story, and now never will.

I am glad you are sticking around, Carlo. Your forum dissertations on any and all aspects of roleplaying only help others learn and grow into better players. Toss in some ready wit and a great sense of humour, and the inn will always be a lively place with you about.

Thank you for Mylor. And any other character you deign to grace DG with.

Let me add my voice to the chorus of suuport and thanks to Mylor. You make me laugh, you make me think, and you remind me every time I'm lucky enough to chat with you that I I am here not to wander around silently slaying anonymous beasties in mad rush to advance. It's the folks here who make the place, and you are one of the good 'uns. Thanks.

aye, Mylor shall be sorely missed Carlo, though like with the rest of your roleplay you came up with a Role Playing scenario with gusto. My only regret is that Zanaan and Mylor did not get to cross wits as often as I would have liked, but the few times they did Mylor presented himself well enough to quickly gain Zanaan's respect.

Thanks, Carlo.

You didnt give up on me when I was making rookie mistakes - and helped me turn that mistake into a meaningful part of Raffe's story. You reminded me that it was about cooperative story telling and gave me a role model for IC interactions. You also encouraged me to not go for the obvious and showed me inventive routes to take when applying backstory to certain situations.

So, Well Done! Mylor will be missed, but its a good thing that the player is sticking around. :D
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D

Let me make it crystal clear so that even Corwin can understand: I'm not leaving. I play Remy.

And you can't have Mylor's stuff. He bequeathed most, and the rest is gone with him. As I write out some of his stories, I will pass them along to Jimmy Kitten, as he promised.

I appreciate the sentiments regarding my play and the character of Mylor. It was not my intention to begin a rave about the character and myself when I wrote thanks to a bunch of players and characters. It was those players and characters who peopled the set in which the best role I fulfilled as Mylor was Grip "In the USA, a grip is a skilled person responsible for the set up, adjustment and maintenance of production equipment on the set." (IMDb Movie Terminology Glossary). Mylor talked a lot and generated conversation. I could set scenes in which others could play. Many times I was disappointed, or had to act out the scene myself, but it was so much fun when others made use of what I had helped to set out.

Among the Five (Venus, Roana, Llyewell, Steelthunder, and Mylor) there developed such trust, confidence, and wealth of IC material that - well we just grooved. It was a blast. I appreciate the praise for Mylor's stories and I heaped praise on Llyewell, Venus, and Steelthunder for their creative efforts. But know well that I think the best part of role-playing is not stories and songs told in character, but rather the conversations and the friendships or rivalries that can develop between characters. I have always considered the stories and songs generated by the Five (Llyewell, Venus, Roana, Steelthunder, and I) to have been byproducts of our play. The conversations were the real substance. Stories and songs resulted because the characters were creative and well-spoken and they took turns playing entertainer(s). It was not forced. It was a great dynamic. Not always smooth, but never dull or stale. I am proud to have been a part of it.

Remy is not so talkative, so it is harder to set up the equipment for a scene. So I rely more on others to provide. I appreciate whet I get.

And I will miss Mylor as well... During my trials for guild membership I remember most the conversation (grilling) I had with you. (Thanks Agape)

That single meeting set the stage for Alfin's character and backgroud. I appreciate you forcing me to flesh out his history.

I look foreward to more time with Remy too....(searching for the 5 gold coins I'm supposed to hang on Ferdinand)
