the mysterious Fountain Spring

A place to talk about the game.

the mysterious Fountain Spring

Postby Amardmai » Thu Nov 05, 2009 11:36 am

Not to long ago, perhaps maybe a week, I stopped at the fountain spring to grab a bucket of water.
I remember seeing a description somewhere the the town folk at one time used the big buckets of water to put out wildfires within the plains. It conjured images in my mind of people in Dundee frantically grabbing buckets of water and running them into the plains to put out fires before they spread to their town.
Today I got to thinking, what if I took one of these buckets of water to a Wildfire Monstrocity which just so happens to be within an area similar to the plains. So I headed to the Fountain Spring to do so
Much to my surprise I saw no description of town folk using the spring for such purposes..
I wondered perhaps if I was crazy..
Despite that I took the bucket of water to a Wildfire Monstrocity and attempted to use it..
Come to find out..
I guess I just don't know what to do with it..as every time I clicked use I got the following message
"Amardmai can't figure out what to do with the bucket."

Which led me to three questions..

1. was there ever a description of the spring which stated town folk used it to put out wildfires or am I going crazy?
2. How in the heck do you use a bucket of water? Obviously it has a purpose.. otherwise why the option to use if you cannot?
3. Is that why the fountain is broken in N'rolav? did the wildfires spread and destroy it?

Ive never figured it out myself either.....

But i did see a friend of mine, Kracky, transform it into wine by the power of the Gods by my very eyes! It was spectacular......i tried it myself, even with all my magic, i couldn't transform it....

But as for the fires...i couldn't say...

theres the obvious bucket of water for washing in the girls toilets in Dundee....

You use it by clicking use (obviously), which works when you try to pour it onto a fire or something similar.

Thorin the Dainty.

As it says to the left......I talk WAY too much. ;)
And yes, I am fully aware that currently it says so to the right, rather than the left, which used to be the location for said line, but I am simply too lazy to change it for you.

Well yes obviously. However, obviously it did not work on a Wildfire Monstrocity, which should be considered as similar to a fire no? I have never seen a fire in all of Valorn except them, and the only other place I could think of would be lava flats, though it did not work there?

Also so you remember the description on the fountain saying such

I am not exactly sure but...
I have never tried that myself but it is my thoughts that the monstrosity is not actually a fire... but rather a creature. There are other monstrosities.

I was not around in the days of the fires but do not recall anyone but the clerical making wine from it.

I need to do more research in this area.

I was not around for the event but there once was a fire in the town itself.
In order to put it out people ran back and forth to the fountain and then dumping the buckets on the fire.
You should ask around in game you might find someone who was there and has greater details.
